Notes on The power of heaven…

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

Man, that was a tough one. never has a short book taken up so much time! But the last few pages made it all worth it…

Playing catch-up

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

So initially I had thought I would attempt to cover the bast 24 days of not writing anything that happened. However that has proven to be a bigger undertaking than I am willing to start since after a little while it kind of all runs together. Hence, I’ll limit myself to a select few topics.

Let’s start with the most bring one: work.
Work has been a pain. Never have I had such a hard time to stay awake. Over the past two weeks, it seems we’ve gone back almost 2 years in what we were doing. Instead of helping production, I am once again bonified secretary, spending most of my night filling out reports. In essence from 7 to 9 I look for hold issues, 9 to midnight, I look for stuff that’s not where it’s supposed to be, midnight I start on utilization issues until 1, 2-3 I continue those issues, 3-4 once again the holds call my name, 4-6 passdown needs to be completed and finally 6-7 will be eaten up with people screaming “my house is on fire”.

Fun.

But then I might just be negatively inclined because tonight is just not going the way I wanted it to. Especially with my foot hurting after the totally and completely unexpected attack of the dinner table. How dare it slam it’s leg onto my foot!

Anyhow, so work isn’t fun.

Come to think of it, I think nobody is having THAT much fun these days… Gillian seems not to know what to do with herself, Liam doesn’t want to do anything as long as Gillian is around because he might get picked on. Only Roo manages to be a good example to the rest of us and keeps on marching on…

I know why I married her :-)

Anyhow… I better get back to work.

Not knowing what to do with myself..

You scored 93% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 72% Expert!
You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels’ questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don’t use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.

Where did the work week go?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005

It’s weird…. It’s like work is in a transition time. Don’t know why, because we aren’t really…

Anyhow, this work week flew by. I think the activity generated by my emailing all the engineers last week helped… as did the projects so nicely bestowed upon me by Red.

What are we taking away from it this week? It doesn’t feel like that much… We learned that MP is getting more and more of a dufus, we can run really well short-staffed and people will still find time to goof of, some people have no clue what they are doing and there is a product engineering position about to be open that would be nice to take over… I guess I need to talk to Dana about that one…

Weekend overview

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005

In was quite an emotional roller-coaster type of weekend. Yet at the same time, looking back it seemed like a really nice one! Go figure…

So Wednesday, as usual, I don’t remember much of anything…. Oh yes, it was Liam’s birthday :-) Duh… We had Roo’s delicious cake, and we got Liam a drum set which he loves and immediately responded to as being his own and not a hand-me-down. It was quite somehting. I swear he hardly let fo of some of those for the next couple of days! And Gillian is really on a little-pony trip. So cute when she gets all excited about the little catalog showing the different little ponies…

Thursday on the other had was something else. Liam had his 1 year well visit… or at least he was supposed to. But when I got there after picking Gillian up at Tumble Bugs, they told me his appointment had been rescheduled for 8:45am. OK but… there was no courtesy call to remind us of the date, as they have done in the past. There ws no courtesy call to remind us we were 10 minutes late either. When asked about the call, the lady said someone called us and left a message. Fat chance since we don’t have an answering machine… Bozos. And to reschedule? Oh, we have to wait two weeks.

So we switched doctors… And when Roo picked up Liam’s charts, they promised the main Dr. would call us to address some of our concerns as they thought they were valid ones. And we even made sure they would call on Roo’s cell so that we wouldn’t miss it, but nobody called. I guess they didn’t want our business that much after all…

Then at night Jeremy and the-one-who’s-name-I-keep-misplacing came over. It was so adorable to see Liam put on a show for them. It was nice, mostly. And then I went out to meet the Houseley’s… Mostly nice but some of the odd humour and funky comments were only explained 3 days later when I talked to Roo about it and she told me the story of the last few years. People can be so interesting :-)

Then Friday rolled along and I finally got myself to exercise… Wait… didn’t I excercise Thursday? I don’t remember, but on either one of those two days I was peacefully walking towards the fitness center in the club house when I noticed two fire trucks (the E-3 fire engine and it’s little buddy the emergency vehicle) parked right by it. Hoping no body was hurt I continued… and nobody was hurt… but 8 fire men were excersizing where I was going to! Talk about intimidating!!

And the same day we got to go to Liam’s new doctor. She was nice. Very different, but very nice. She kept repeating that he was perfect. Cute. :-) So it went well.

Then we had a pretty bad fight, Roo and I… A silly one at that. But we got over it and ended up watching “Dangerous Beauty”. It was fun :-)

Saturday, our bad customer service weekend continued with Blockbuster being jerks (can’t even cancel my account online due to a “Website error”, blah) and El Phoenix not knowing how to cook. But Roo and I managed to have quite some fun shopping for shoes in the afternoon and going on a short date in the evening. I need to look up date ideas because the outlet mall (as fun as it can be) is getting a little… repetitive.

Then Sunday morning came around and both little ones were sick :-( What a way to end the week. But ah well. At least they are in good hands tonight with Roo watching over them.

So what is the conclusion?
1. We’re going back to NetFlix.
2. We bought an answering machine.
3. One shouldn’t feel bad to end a business relationship if it’s no longer beneficial to the one who does the paying and that one is us.

I hope next weekend is even more fun than this one and there’s no reason it can’t be!
