Winter?

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Goodness… has it really been since December 20th that I wrote down anything? Oh my. Of course with that realization comes the pressure to remember every single event that has happened since then: from my birthday to new year’s, to changes at work over the children’s development to future plans, present fears and trials, to my mom coming back and all that came with it to how beautiful today was.

With that we’re going to forgo pretty much all of the above, even though some of those would have some terribly juicy stories attached to them, and focus on the very last item of that list: today. Which brings us back to the title. Winter? It sure didn’t seem like a winter day today. In fact, it makes it hard to believe that just a little more than a week ago, there was lots of ice on the roads again.

It was almost perfect. I slept in and only got up at 6:45, just in time for half an hour of me-time, and time with Cora and Ruth before getting Gillian ready for school. Liam was still so excited over the train he got for his birthday yesterday that he completely skipped breakfast to play. Cutie.

We had a nice walk to school. And surprisingly Gillian didn’t complain once about anything related to walking. She pointed out her side hurt once but it wasn’t the same as when suddenly her legs hurt or her feet hurt… *lol* And when we got there, she barely gave me enough time to give her her backpack before she ran after a friend!

Somehow I then convinced Ruth to take the long way back home. We probably shouldn’t have, but it was so nice I couldn’t resist :-)

Once home, after covering some our spending habits of last (and wondering how in the world we managed to spend close to $300 at home depot without remembering what it was within 2 weeks!) Ruth talked me into digging her a whole for the berry-bush my mom bought us. And while out there our rose got a trim too, which was sadly overdue anyway.

Then lunch, some re-engineering of the kids’ train track, the reading of two books to entice Liam to go to sleep… Followed by a debriefing of what Gillian’s teacher said about her to Ruth during the P/T conference: A sweet perfectionist who everyone loves (and I got to hear the story of her first kiss. That boy just be glad that I don’t know who he is or he would never look at the playground with the same feelings…), who takes anything very personal and seriously,

My little angel…

She was so cute coming out of school that the agreed 10 minutes of playtime at the playground turned into 40. But she sure had a blast. Once home we picked up Liam and went once around the block: Gillian on her bike (and did a wonderful job at pushing with her legs when it got hard and following direction) and Liam on his tricycle (who did a great job steering in the right direction!).

Then dinner, cleaning up, bath and bed…

And now it’s all quiet. And I wish I would post some pictures but for lack of installed software mostly due to the two windows-reinstalls over the past 2 weeks, I will pass for today…
